ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
HealthRight international is a global health organization that empowe marginalized communities to live healthy lives, with particular focus on four marginalized populations: women and children; migrant populations; adolescents; and sexual and gender minorities. Employing a human rights- based approach, Healthkight works closely with community-based partners to build local capacity and create sustainable programs that have lasting impact. Healthkight leverages global resources to address local health challenges and to create sustainable solutions. Since its founding in 1990 by the late Dr. Jonathan Mann, HealthRight has worked in over 30 countries, with current projects in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and the United States.
In Uganda, HealthRight‘s Peter C. Alderman Program in Global Mental Health (formerly the Peter C. Alderman Foundation (PCAF)), has operated mental health programs in collaboration with the government and other stakeholders since 2006.
PRIMARY ROLE
Working closely with HealthRight‘s headquarters in New York City and other HealthRight global sites, the Uganda Country Director will oversee the implementation of our current portfolio of Ugandan projects, and expand HealthRight's engagement in Uganda. Building on our current focus on mental health,the Country Director will grow our Uganda program to include projects dedicated to strengthening local health systems and empowering marginalized communities more broadly. .

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the ongoing strengthening of HealthRight's presence in Uganda.
• Expand and enhance HealthRight‘s engagement in Uganda, cultivating and maintaining effective relationships with local, regional and international donors, partners, I/NGO_s, and government agencies to identify new opportunities for funding, consortium development, and collaborative/complementary programming.
• Serve as liaison between HealthRight and donor agencies in Uganda; attending all key stakeholder meetings to advance HealthRight project priorities.
• Work closely with HO to help develop the country office's vision, goals, and programs.
• Manage communications and public relations regarding HealthRight's activities in Uganda, including promotion of organizational project achievements and lessons learned in Uganda.
• Provide oversight of country operations.
• Maintain compliance with all donor and HealthRight‘s intemal operational policies and train local staff in these as appropriate.
• Provide careful financial management for projects through budgeting, monitoring spending and resource utilization, and ensuring the overall fiscal health and responsibility of the office;
• Ensure timely financial and program reporting for all Uganda-based projects.
• Keep abreast of local developments, and continuously exchange such information with local and HQ-based staff.
• Communicate regularly HQ-based support staff re operations, development, finance and administration.
• Ensure that HealthRight Uganda is a great place to work supported by a strong team-oriented approach to our work
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Advanced degree in a public health-related field or similar background.
• 10 years of experience in global public health and proven track record in managing programs for at least one of the priority populations: at
• risk adolescents, women and children, migrants, or sexual and gender minorities.
• 7 years of senior leadership in sub-Saharan Africa, with a strong preference for prior experience in Uganda.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of business development in the global health space, financial management and fiscal responsibility.
• Strong record of relationship building and working closely with Ugandan Health ministry, public and private donors, l/NGO and community stakeholders.

HIGHLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to work effectively across language and cultural barriers.
• Excellent written, public speaking and verbal communication skills.
• Current residence in Uganda is strongly preferred, with ability to travel domestically and regionally.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
• Demonstrated experience building a happy and productive team.
