Position: Credit Analyst
Reports to: Head Credit

Role Summary:
The Credit Analyst is responsible for credit underwriting and administration, ensuring accurate analysis of loan proposals and compliance with Yako Bank’s policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, validate, and refine loan proposals in consultation with branch teams.
  • Present loan proposals to Head Credit, ensuring compliance with bank policies.
  • Verify loan decisions/recommendations for loan amount, structure, eligibility, and accuracy of financial, business, and security information.
  • Conduct pre-approval checks to ensure compliance and recommend risk-mitigating covenants.
  • Evaluate clients’ credit data, financial statements, and savings records to assess lending risks and propose suitable loan structures.
  • Prepare financial analysis and ratios using standard templates, providing comments on outcomes.
  • Draft detailed loan proposal write-ups for Management or Board Credit Committees based on approval limits.
  • Maintain accurate credit mirror files with relevant documents.
  • Conduct risk analysis, credit rating, and profiling to safeguard the bank from credit risks.
  • Ensure high-quality credit underwriting and identify risk management requirements.
  • Highlight weaknesses or compromises in branch proposals and recommend training or corrective actions.
  • Ensure fast Turn-Around Time (TAT) for loan decisions and provide weekly pipeline updates/reports.

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, Statistics, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Credit Supervisor in Banking or Microfinance.
  • Excellent employee engagement, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Result-oriented with strong collaboration and teamwork abilities.
  • High numeracy, analytical, and statistical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, and multitasking capabilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills, business acumen, and market knowledge aligned with strategic goals.
  • High integrity and ability to inspire trust.
