The Driver will be responsible for operating and maintaining AEGY vehicles in a safe and effective manner. This includes ensuring vehicle readiness, transporting staff and materials, and supporting project logistics in compliance with AEGY policies and Ugandan traffic laws.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Maintenance (40%)
- Perform daily vehicle checks and minor maintenance (oil, water, air).
- Ensure vehicle safety equipment is present and functional.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs in consultation with the Procurement team.
- Conduct post-maintenance inspections and follow up on repair quality.
- Respond promptly to transportation needs during emergencies.
Transport and Safety (30%)
- Drive safely and responsibly, adhering to Ugandan laws and AEGY procedures.
- Ensure the well-being of passengers and the security of property.
- Avoid night travel and ensure trips are planned efficiently.
- Maintain a stocked First Aid kit in the vehicle at all times.
Vehicle Records Management (20%)
- Maintain up-to-date logbooks and submit vehicle status reports.
- Support vehicle and driver scheduling on a monthly basis.
- Compile journey summaries and assist with logistics planning.
Gender, Diversity & Safeguarding (5%)
- Promote AEGY’s core values, gender equity, and diversity goals.
- Uphold safeguarding policies and recommend improvements where necessary.
Other Duties (5%)
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum O-Level (Secondary School) education.
- Valid Ugandan Driver’s License.
- 2–5 years’ experience driving in a medium-sized organization.
- Defensive driving skills and good knowledge of traffic laws.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated integrity, customer service, and cultural sensitivity.
