Overview of CSJ Programme
The Climate Smart Jobs (CSJ) is a 4-year program funded by the UK's International Climate Fund (ICF) and is building on the previous UK-funded Northern Uganda Program dubbed ‘NUTEC’- Transforming the Economy through Climate Smart Agriculture. The CSJ component one consists of two sub-components: 1A, which is a market systems development intervention, and Component 1B, which will run a challenge fund called the "Uganda Climate Innovation Fund." The program (CSJ) will be implemented and delivered through a market development approach that involves partnerships with the private sector. The objective of CSJ component one is to support large-scale
job creation in the agri-business sector, through improved productivity and/or incomes in agriculture.
The component is focusing on innovative sustainable solutions for smallholder farmers especially women, refugees, and host communities to address the impacts of climate change and contribute to incomes and jobs.

Scope of work
CSJ requires the skills of a university graduate looking to gain work experience in the field of Monitoring, Evaluation and learning. The intern will work with the CSJ ERL function. This intern will focus on ensuring that CSJ learnings and evidence arising from the various component’s reflection reviews, meetings, partner visits, etc are efficiently documented and peer reviewed, including documentation previously conducted program activities.
The intern will report to the ERL Manager, the intern will work in close collaboration with the ERL specialists and Intervention managers and external ERL service providers.

Specific duties
• Support documentation of programme learnings and evidence arising from the various component’s reflection reviews, meetings, partner visits, etc, including documentation previously conducted program activities.
• Support data Collection, verification and compilation from the field and partners as stipulated in Monitoring and Evaluation plans.
• Support the ERL team to ensure that reports from partners or consultants are complete and meet CSJ standards and quality requirements.
• Compile monitoring reports, case studies, presentations, progress reports etc
• Assist with scheduling internal/external meetings/trainings and workshops as and when.
• Participate in developing and implementing ERL plans to generate regular information related to the progress of implementation.

Required Qualifications
The ERL intern is required to have a university degree in a relevant field e.g. monitoring and evaluation, economics, social sciences etc. No prior work experience is required, however, courses in monitoring, evaluation and learning will be advantageous.

The intern must be proficient in:
• Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint

The intern must:
• Be detail-oriented
• Have strong communication skills in English, including the ability to write reports
• Be able to plan and organise their work and manage their time
• Be able to prioritise based on multiple, conflicting tasks and deadlines
• Have strong interpersonal and facilitation skills

Location/Working Arrangements
• CSJ operates in the districts of Northern Uganda, with offices in Kampala and Gulu
• The position will be based full-time basis. (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM). However, to note sometimes one may be required to work beyond the normal working hours
• Interns will work under the supervision of a designated team member.

Contract and benefits
• This internship is a 6-month contract with a stipend. This role aims to provide work experience for a young person. There is no expectation of employment at the end of this internship Refugees and people living in refugee hosting communities are encouraged to apply.
