PROJECT DESCRIPTION
WaterAid's vision is of a world where everyone everywhere has access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in the World’s poorest communities. WaterAid works through supporting local organisations and government authorities to design and demonstrate a appropriate and sustainable WASH programmes. WaterAid also seeks to influence policy change through government and other key sector actors to secure and protect the rights of poor people to safe, affordable water and sanitation services.

The positions will report to the Specific Unit Heads, based in Kampala

Purpose of job:

  • Provide support to Programme staff and partner organisations in undertaking gender analysis and lead in designing strategies for addressing gender issues of the programme
  • Ensuring the inclusion and advancing of women rights in all aspect of WaterAid Uganda's operations and engagement at both the ground and national level.
  • implement gender mainstreaming in the substantive programme. work Principle responsibilities: policy, strategy and action planning, analysis, knowledge development and information activities, networking and partnerships, monitoring and reporting:

The Gender Advisor will:

  • Act as advisor on gender mainstreaming
  • Ensure gender dimension in M&E systems and support Programme stakeholders to monitor the progress on women's rights across programme work.
  • Develop and disseminate a collection of good practice examples of gender mainstreaming in different types oi work carried out in the country programme
  • Raise awareness and advocate tor greater attention to gender perspectives, providing the necessary rationales and advice on approaches to support gender mainstreaming throughout the programme.
  • Responsible tor building partnerships with government institutions, donors, universities, private sector and research institutions so as to advance WaterAid’s strategic objectives.

Education, experience and skills:

  • A Bachelors degree with locus in gender studies or related field
  • 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong negotiations and strategic planning
  • Experience in gender issues, particularly with regard to mitigation actions and transparency.
  • Excellent networking skills and ability to interact with a diverse array
