WaterAid works through supporting local organizations and government authorities to design‘ and demonstrate appropriate and sustainable WA programmes. Water id also seeks to influence policy change through government and other key sector actors to secure an protect the rights of poor people to safe, affordable water and sanitation services.
The position will manage teams and report to the specific Units, based in Kampala,

Purpose of Job:

• Provide strategic leadership ot the finance and grants function_ for WaterAid Uganda ensuring effective application of financial policies and procedures
  
• Ensuring that WaterAid Uganda fulfils its grant requirements and compliance.

Principal Responsibilities: Financial and strategic management, grants management

The Head Finance and Grants will:

• Ensure the timely submission of high quality financial reports for internal and external audiences.
  
• Support completion of new and potential partners capacity assessments, make recommendations to engage in a partnership arrangement and identifying risk management plans.
  
• Ensure existing donor income is accurately incorporated into WaterAid Uganda’s internal planning process
  
• Ensure appropriate donor management systems and processes are in place
  
• Monitor compliance with donor requirements, including grant reporting.

Education, Experience and Skills

• Accounting qualification/certification e.g. CA, ACCA, CIMA, CP or a Masters degree in Finance.
  
• 8 years experience, with six in a senior management in development sector.
  
• Knowledge on accounting software, especially SUN systems, will be an added advantage.
  
• Skills for planning, budgeting, follow-up progress and Report writing.
  
• Experience in developing budgeting monitoring and reporting systems.
  
• Knowledge of international donor reporting requirements
  
• Risk anaysis and risk management experience
