Alderman Program for Global Mental Health (PCAP) currently consists of mental health programming in Uganda. Kenya, and Ukraine. In Uganda, Health Right implements mental health programs in collaboration with the Government of Uganda and other stakeholders.

Job scope
Alcohol use in Humanitarian settings: The Project focus is to address alcohol use disorders and associated adversities among conflict-affected populations in Uganda and Ukraine (CHANGE). It is a joint collaboration between London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), Health Right Uganda, and the University of Copenhagen. CHANGE is a five-year research project funded by the NIHR-Welcome Partnership for Global Health Research. CHANGE seeks to develop a new psychological intervention to reduce alcohol. use disorders (AUDs) and co-occurring psychological problems in conflict-affected populations. The intervention will build upon the World Health Organization's (WHO) intervention "Problem Management Plus" (PM+) designed for populations exposed to adversity to provide individual psychological help for adults impaired by psychological distress (symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)). We will complement PM+ by adding an additional psychological component addressing alcohol misuse (a new intervention called PM+A).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the successful delivery of PM+A in Rhino Camp.
• Participate in the translation of intervention materials to ensure high-quality translation of the same documents.
• Conduct PM+A sessions in accordance with established standard operating procedures. Provide feedback on PM+4 sessions conducted to the intervention management team after each session. During intervention periods, meet with other team members on a daily has is (generally at the end of the day) to discuss issues pertaining to Successful PM+A therapy session.
• Participate in weekly meetings to discuss ongoing issues
• Responsible for the safekeeping of intervention materials disposed to them, such as laptops, speakers, tape recorders, furniture, etc.
• Participate in the screening of clients based on the criteria outline in the tools, planning the group sessions & facilitation.
• Ensure that all therapeutic sessions are conducted and documentation is completed in a timely and professional manner.
• Preparation and compiling of quality activity reports and sharing them with the supervisor.
• Ensure that all work with clients is kept confidential and that ethical practices are observed at all times.
• Develop referral pathways and systems, and encourage collaboration between local partners, leaders, CBOS, INGOS & Government ministries.
• Attend inter-agency meetings to improve service delivery to our clients/groups and access opportunities to showcase what Health Right is doing in its areas of operation.
• Perform any other activities or duties assigned by his/her supervisor

Qualifications
• At least 2-3 years in-field experience within a Humanitarian, NGO/Agency in the same or similar position NGO/Agency in the same or similar position
• Extensive experience providing psychotherapy to individuals and groups
• Flexibility and adaptability to the changing environment
• Skilled at working as a team member
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and needs
• Ability to communicate sensitively and without judgment, good diplomatic and persuasion skills.
• Ability to use good judgment when making decisions and to take accountability for decisions made.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks: proven self-initiative and problem-solving abilities.
• Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency in English and Juba Arabic is required
