Job Summary:
Our Primary and Kindergarten School in Wakiso, with over 1000 pupils and 80 staff, is seeking a dedicated Kindergarten Head Teacher to lead our early childhood education program. The Kindergarten Head Teacher will oversee the kindergarten section, ensuring a nurturing and educational environment that supports the development of young learners while aligning with the school’s mission and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the kindergarten section, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for young children.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curricula that promote holistic development, including cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
- Supervise and mentor kindergarten teachers, providing guidance and support to enhance teaching quality.
- Monitor student progress and development, ensuring individualized attention and support for each child.
- Collaborate with parents to foster strong home-school relationships, addressing concerns and sharing updates on student progress.
- Ensure compliance with early childhood education standards and regulations in Uganda.
- Organize and lead activities, events, and programs that engage young learners and their families.
- Manage the kindergarten budget, resources, and supplies, ensuring efficient use and availability.
- Work closely with the school administration to align kindergarten programs with the overall school vision.
- Promote a culture of inclusivity, creativity, and play-based learning within the kindergarten section.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- At least 3 years of teaching experience in early childhood education, with 1-2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and early childhood education best practices.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills to guide and support kindergarten teachers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with children, parents, and staff.
- Ability to create a nurturing and inclusive environment for young learners.
- Organizational skills to manage schedules, resources, and activities effectively.
- Familiarity with Uganda’s early childhood education standards and curriculum.
- Passion for working with young children and fostering their growth and development.
