JOB DETAILS:
OVERALL JOB PURPOSE
To provide high standards of cleanliness throughout the hospital for all fabric.
To ensure the supply of clean laundry throughout the hospital as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• O’level Qualification
• Good interpersonal and communication (verbal & written) skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and the team.
• Ability to do heavy work (Physical strength).
• Good vision and the ability to notice small stains and imperfections.
• Knowledge of stain treatment in order to utilize the best strategies to remove the stain.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
• Carry out daily check of all linen before distribution.
• Do three ward rounds to check for the state of linen in the wards.
• Daily check of all linen before dispatch and after picking recorded in linen checkbook.
• Inventory management
• Adhere to the quality standards set for the department at all times

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Sort articles before cleaning, separating them by fabric, colour, cleaning technique or dirt content for best results
• Sort and count articles as they are removed from dryers; hang, fold or wrap the articles according to requirements or personal attention to detail
• Remove stains on fabrics though application of bleaching powders and steam sprays
• Use a hand or machine marker to place identifying names or code numbers on dry cleaning or laundry
• Utilize portable machines or neutralizer solutions to tend to stained articles, through pre-soaking, spot-cleaning, sterilizing, scrubbing and drying articles as needed
• Cleaning the home to an acceptably high standard of cleanliness and comfort.
• Follow Health and Safety procedures when dealing with the disposal of waste, and in cleaning and laundering throughout the home.
• Attending staff meetings and training sessions when required.
• Record any breakages or defects found in the Maintenance book.
• Be prepared to deputise for other members of the housekeeping staff when
• required to do so.
• Collection of linen from the hamper from all departments.
• Hanging and un-hanging of linen & ironing all the washed linen
• Cleaning the laundry walls and machines
• Ensuring proper hygiene in the laundry
• Organising of the fabric in laundry to avoid clutter.
• Delivery of linen to respective department on time as per the agreed timetable
