Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Learning and Development Manager to lead C-Care Uganda’s Learning & Development (L&D) strategy. This role plays a key part in enhancing professional growth, regulatory compliance, and leadership development across the organization. The ideal candidate will drive innovative, blended learning models and support a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Learning & Development Strategy
- Lead the design and execution of L&D strategies aligned with C-Care’s strategic goals.
- Implement competency-based learning frameworks for clinical and non-clinical teams.
- Introduce blended learning models (e-learning, workshops, on-the-job training).
- Coordinate staff induction and internal/external training initiatives.
2. Talent Development & Digital Learning
- Design leadership development and succession planning programs.
- Champion digital learning solutions such as LMS, simulations, microlearning, and gamification.
- Develop customized in-house training and align career pathing with development frameworks.
- Organize training sessions, venues, logistics, and provider selection.
3. Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation Training
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and professional certification needs.
- Oversee continuing education for clinical teams (nurses, doctors, allied professionals).
- Maintain training documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.
- Deliver training in patient safety, risk management, and clinical governance.
4. Employee Engagement & Performance Improvement
- Conduct training needs assessments and develop personalized learning plans.
- Use learning analytics to measure training impact and adjust programs.
- Collaborate with department heads to close skills gaps and improve performance.
- Enhance employee onboarding to improve integration and retention.
Key Internal & External Relationships
- Internal: Uganda Leadership Team, Clinical & Nursing Heads, Compliance & Quality Teams, IT/Digital Transformation, C-Care Group HR.
- External: Universities, Regulatory Bodies, Tech Providers, Professional Associations.
Planning & Reporting Duties
- Monthly: Track training participation and performance metrics.
- Quarterly: Review feedback, certification progress, and industry trends.
- Annually: Design and implement long-term workforce development strategies.
Decision-Making Scope
- Geographic Scope: Uganda
- Employees Served: 1,000 – 2,500
- Policy Input: Recommend and provide input to L&D policies
- Budget Responsibility: None/Negligible
- Staffing Decisions: None
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Organizational Development, HR, Healthcare Management, or related field.
- Preferred: Certification in CPTM, CIPD, SHRM, or Healthcare Education Leadership.
Experience
- Minimum 6 years in learning and development, training, or talent development.
- Proven experience with digital learning platforms, accreditation, and leadership programs.
Technical Knowledge
- Deep understanding of healthcare regulatory training standards.
- Familiarity with LMS platforms and education technology tools.
Behavioral Competencies
- Strong leadership and people development skills.
- Strategic thinker with a passion for digital transformation.
- Excellent communicator, coach, and mentor.
