The USAID Regional Health integration To Enhance Services in South West Uganda project aims at increasing utilization of health services, by strengthening systems, improving quality of services, increasing availability of, access to and demand for quality services. Nutrition Advisor
Location: Mbarara
Reporting Relationships: The Nutrition Advisor reports to the Director Clinical Services.
Job Summary
The position will oversee the implementation of the facility and community based nutrition, WASH and Early Childhood Development (ECD) activities within selected districts. The Nutrition Advisor will work in close collaboration with local government as well as program technical staff to ensure nutrition and ‘NASH service integration into routine health services at both facility and community level, and that technical approaches for scaling up nutrition, WASH and ECD services building on in-country capacity to ensure sustainability of services. The Nutrition Advisor will dire all Nutrition, ECD and WASH activities using a and quality improvement through provision of technical assistance to project staff, implementing partners, districts, health facilities and other relevant stakeholders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required.
Master's degree in Public Health nutrition and/or dietetios, Bachelors’ degree in Nutrition and dietetics. At least five years of proven experience in implementing community and facility based maternal and child health nutrition, HIV and AIDS, or other health-related work required. Knowledge of nutrition and ECD technical guidelines, best practices, and innovations and program approaches designed for nutrition, WASH and ECD service integration at facility and community levels, Experience working in health and nutrition quality improvement programs including NACS, IMAM and IYCF. Excellent organizational, analytical, and oral and written communication skills (in English). Ability to translate technical information into practical guidance and tools and effectively communicate these using print, electronic, and presentation media. Proven track record that demonstrates leadership skills, project management, budget and resource management experience, and client relationship management Y capability. Demonstrated program management competency and effective communication skills in working with district, government and implementing partners. Should be willing to make frequent field travels. Familiarity with USAID funding operations is an added advantage
