Operations Manager
Impact Water, Uganda Kampala, Central Region, Uganda
Impact Water is a global social enterprise dedicated to providing safe drinking water to millions of students through the installation and maintenance of water purification systems at schools. We are currently partners with 2300+ schools across Uganda and in 30,000 schools globally, reaching 12m+ students every day with safe drinking water. We aim to reach 10,000 schools in Uganda and 100,000 schools globally by the end of 2025.

As Operations Manager, you will report to the Country Director and have a full and direct mandate to drive the work forward. You will coordinate closely with the Operations team and other directors and senior country-level managers.

Responsibilities
● Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to install ~8,000 new water systems over the next three years, with 1,100 new UV systems installed this year.
● Build a network of well-trained and motivated field agents, technicians, and plumbers; design and lead ongoing training as well as quality control systems
● Manage the operations department in a hands-on capacity, providing training, mentorship, and direct support to ensure monthly installation targets are hit; course correct quickly wherever and whenever needed
● Evaluate overall company performance by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data, and continuously identifying opportunities for improvement
● Define strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity
● Create and strengthen consistent usage rate of safe drinking systems by the partner schools through high-quality implementation and service delivery.
● Constantly ensure cost-effectiveness, high-quality installations and maintenance services, and zero fraud.
● Serve as the company’s main adviser to the Country Director on all issues relating to operational functions and keep abreast of the latest sector developments to ensure that the company maintains its competitive position.
● Prepare accurate, timely, and concise reports for management as needed.
● Serve as a member of the senior leadership team and participate in all its activities.

Qualifications
● Ability to think work at scale
● Bachelor’s degree in any business-related course, with preference to social sector concentrations from a top academic University (the water sector desirable)
● 6 years + of experience managing and leading operations for a private sector company; with 2+ years of general management and/or supervising fieldwork in challenging environments
● Financial management experience, including internal controls and accountability
● Experience in the social enterprise sector is preferred
● Strong computer literacy (preferred experience with Salesforce database, Taro works and ODK is a plus
● Strong leadership, analytical and organizational skills
● Strong interpersonal, cross-cultural, active listening, writing, and presentation skills
● Excellent intellectual credentials combined with strong emotional intelligence skills
● English proficiency with 100% fluency; additional language skills are welcomed
● High levels of integrity
