Human Capital Business Solutions Ltd is a Boutique HR Advisory Firm that specializes in strategic HR Consulting, Talent Acquisition & Development, Risk Management and Business Process Outsourced Services with our Headquarters based in Uganda and Country Office in Tanzania.

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a competent and experienced Plumber to be based in Kampala, Uganda.

Reports To: The Maintenance Manager

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Job Summary: This role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining piping systems, fixtures, and other plumbing infrastructure in accordance with safety regulations and building codes. The role also involves reading blueprints, diagnosing issues, performing preventative maintenance, and responding to plumbing emergencies to ensure efficient water, drainage, and waste systems within the organization.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Installation and Maintenance
2. Install and maintain plumbing systems including pipes, valves, drainage systems, toilets, sinks, water heaters, and other fixtures.
3. Ensure proper functioning of water supply and waste disposal systems.

• Repairs and Troubleshooting
• Diagnose plumbing issues and carry out timely repairs to minimize disruption.
• Unclog drains, fix leaks, and replace worn-out or damaged parts.

 3.    Preventive Maintenance

• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to identify potential issues and avoid major breakdowns.
• Keep records of maintenance and repairs performed.

   4.  Compliance and Safety

• Ensure all plumbing work complies with building codes, health and safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Follow organizational safety procedures, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

   5.  Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of materials used, repairs made, and hours worked.
• Report major issues or safety concerns to the supervisor.

  6.   Collaboration

• Work closely with other maintenance staff, electricians, and contractors on repair or construction projects.
• Provide input on plumbing needs during renovations or new construction.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

• Vocational training or certification in Plumbing or Pipefitting, or a related field
• Understanding of plumbing systems, materials, and tools.
• At least 5 years of experience in the same role.
• Strong understanding of plumbing systems, materials, and tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and building codes.
• Good physical condition and manual dexterity.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures.

Barriers to Success in Role

• Limited or lack of knowledge about plumbing systems.
• Inability to work independently and as part of a team.
