JOB DETAILS:
Producer - Reports to: Head of News Department: News

JOB PURPOSE:
To plan, coordinate & produce reliable, objective & authoritative news so as to attract the largest numbers of viewers and make NTV UGANDA their preferred TV Station.
The job holder ought to understand the core audience and anticipate viewer expectations by proactively engaging in research.

Main Responsibilities:
• Drive the Editorial content generation process in line with the Editorial Policy.
• Brief, debrief, guide & monitor Reporters to ensure story deadlines are achieved within the specified time.
• Edit news scripts, write headlines & make key decisions on story aesthetics in line with the Editorial Policy.
• Ensure images & sound used in stories are of the highest possible standards.
• Conduct quality control of content before broadcasts in line with the Editorial Policy.
• Ability to deploy & effectively manage News crews on location.
• Provide digital support with regular content as per the digital strategy.
• •Provide a daily docket to the general NMGU platform.

Academic:
University Degree in Mass Communication or any related field from an accredited institution.

Professional: Diploma in Journalism
Experience: At least 3 to 5 years of experience in the media industry with proven ability to conceptualize, edit and execute television stories and an excellent command of English Language.

• Competence in writing coupled with a keen news

• Possesses broad knowledge of local and regional issues and/or depth knowledge in beat specialty. • Ability to work accurately & under pressure Deadline driven
• Computer Literate
• Must have a good eye for detail
• Must be able to deal effectively with simultaneous tasks
• Excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation skills Must be able to demonstrate a unique skills set in managing digital media television production workflow systems.
