KIFAD's sectors of operation include; HIV/AIDS, Health, Economic Empowerment, Child Protection, Education, livelihoods, Food Security and Nutrition programs in Wakiso District.

KIFAD intends to implement a project, “Grow Together” Transformation of gender relations in Uganda towards equal participation, economic empowerment and improved menstrual health for women and girls in Teso (Katakwi and Amuria) Region.
We are looking for dynamic and suitably qualified individuals to fill the following positions. These positions require persons with a high degree of flexibility, integrity and the capacity to deliver beyond expectations in order to meet the organization's strategic goals based in Katakwi and Amuria Districts, Teso Region, Uganda.

DESIGNATION: PROJECT ACCOUNTANT (01 position)
DUTY STATION: Teso Region (Katakwi and Amuria)
JOB PURPOSE:
KIFAD is seeking to recruit suitably qualified personnel for the position of Project Accountant, the successful candidate will be responsible for the general over sight of the project finances and using approved accounting systems and procedures. There may be minimal travels to project areas.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Payment requests reviews, requests for additional information, and ensure that payments with the Finance team continue to move through proscribed process;
• Assist with or lead bank reconciliations, petty cash management, voucher compilation and upload and cost projections;
• Assist and/or lead budget development, account balance management, tax remittance, tax return compilation and activity budget reviews;
• Ensure proper documentation reviews of all payment requests and vouchers, proper filing and completeness of field voucher files;
• Review transactions for cost reasonableness, allowability and allocability;
• Make recommendations to improve payment request reviews, financial controls and policies, and workflow processes;
• Assist with audit preparation, auditor reviews and implementation of recommendations as directed;
• Ensuring the accuracy of financial documents, as well as their compliance with relevant donor regulations
• Preparing and maintaining important financial reports
• Perform other duties within your area of competence, as assigned by the supervisors

REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree Finance or Accounting with an added advantage for CPA
• Minimum three years of work experience in accounting and/or finance with a local NGO
• Proficient in Microsoft office and ideally, working knowledge of QuickBooks;
• A strong sense of ethics and honesty with attention to detail is mandatory;
• Good organizational skills and the ability to keep absolute confidentiality is required.
• Good communication and inter-personal skills, team player, able to work under minimal supervision in a fast-paced academic environment.
• Willingness to be based in a rural setting with frequent travel within the implementation area.
• Cultural sensitivity, patience and flexibility
• Required Language: English fluency with excellent oral and writing skills is mandatory.
