DEPARTMENT OF QUALITY OFFICER (DQO)
Position: Quality Assurance Officer (QAO)
Number of Vacancies: 1 (One)
Nature of Contract: Full-time
Reports To: Vice Chancellor

Purpose of the Job:
Provide overall leadership in quality assurance and best practices to the university by monitoring and ensuring consistent standards and organize the development and implementation of university wide quality assurance initiatives in line with NCHE Quality Assurance Framework for Universities and University standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• To provide leadership for quality assurance and good practice in the University.
• To set performance standards for every functional unity in the university
• To lead the development and oversee implementation of university-wide quality assurance initiative.
• To contribute to the identification, development and promotion of the university’s quality assurance protocols and mechanisms.
• To write proposals for resource mobilization for the quality assurance department.
• To serve as a link between the university and other national and international agencies engaged in the quality assurance initiative.
• Initiate institutional review program, self and peer assessment and design strategies of managing and enhancing quality in line with the university’s quality assurance policy
• Any other relevant responsibility assigned by the supervisor
• Formulate, the framework and tools for assessment of academic staff teaching quality by students and peers, disseminate results to relevant academic staff, management and other relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor and guide quality assurance of the academic and other support services across the university
• Ensure that the university has reliable controls for quality assurance in all its operations
• Provide accurate and reliable data to the senior management team for various purposes such as submission to Government of Uganda, NCHE, other regulatory bodies and external audit teams when necessary.
• Support the process of assessing the university’s compliance with the approved relevant policy, regulations and laws and ensures provision of feedback on various quality assurance matters.
• Responsible for the operational, management and support of academic standards and quality enhancements across the University.

Person Specifications:
The candidate must have the following qualifications:
• A Master’s degree in any field from a reputable institution of higher learning
• Experience in curriculum development, education evaluation and/or research will be an added advantage
• (c) Must have an excellent record of administration and/or teaching/ research and service in reputable universities, of not less than eight (4) years (2) of which must be at a managerial level.
