JOB DETAILS:
Job Responsibilities:
We are looking for a candidate with experience in day-to-day research project coordination in Uganda who would be willing to work full-time for an exciting, fast-paced, interdisciplinary multi-component project for the next five (5) years. We will expect the candidate to:
1. Plan, coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operations of the research project with all project partners, manage the project timeline, project team meetings and project laboratories.
2. Support the Principal Investigator (“PI”), Project Director and Research Manager in the
implementation of the data collection tools and standard operating procedures. Prepare weekly progress reports for Project leadership.
3. Support the research teams at the study sites during data collection including biospecimens and project implementation and identify/troubleshoot issues to be addressed including staff assignments.
4. Support the translation, back-translation and document preparation into “Luganda” (from English).
5. Get trained in all study tools to be administered as part of the study. Support training of social workers and research assistants on all study tools and the research protocol.
6. Be CITI-certified, and ensure fidelity of the study protocol, human subjects protection and data confidentiality.
7. May perform duties such as: leading qualitative collection and analysis efforts, developing protocol manuals and data collection instruments, recommending additional equipment/tools and resources for the study.
8. Report to the PI, Project Director and Research Manager and provide regular feedback on all activities.
9. Any other project-related duties as assigned by the PI, Project Director or Research Manager.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
2. Prior research project coordination experience required.
3. Fluency in English and Luganda with demonstrated experience of writing research materials in plain English
4. Strong computing skills
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Demonstrated leadership ability

• Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
