JOB DETAILS:
UGANDA FREE ZONES AUTHORITY
The Free Zones Act, 2014 was duly enacted by the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda and assented to by H. E. the President of the Republic of Uganda on the 2nd February, 2014. This law provides for the Legal and Institutional Frameworks governing Free Zones and related activities in Uganda.
The Uganda Free Zones Authority (UFZA) is mandated to establish, develop, manage, market, maintain, supervise, control and to provide for other related matters of Free Zones in Uganda, as outlined in section 13 of the Free Zones Act, 2014. Free Zones are economic development tools that many Governments have used to stimulate manufacturing for export.
To deliver on its mandate efficiently and effectively, UFZA contracted ABS Consulting Group to assist in the carrying out a competence based recruitment and selection process seeking to hire qualified and self-motivated individuals to fill the following positions:
Job Title: Research Officer
Reports To: Research and Planning Executive
Scale: UF5 Vacancy .
Key Roles and Responsibilities
• Conduct comparative studies on best practices for incentive provision and tax regimes;
• Prepare statistical profiles on various regions across the country
• Prepare policy briefs;
• Build database for Free Zone activity reports;
• Produce research papers on Uganda's investment
• performance and investment opportunities;
• Maintenance of market intelligence service in support of all operating departments.
• Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.
Required Competencies
• Strong research and planning skills;
• Strong analytical skills;
• Good organisation skills;
• Strong computer skills;
• Strong communication skills.

Education and Professional qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Managementor any related field.
Working Experience
• At least 3 years' experience of work in research from a reputable organisation.
