Job Purpose
To conduct research and analysis to support strategic decision-making and operational improvements within the electricity company. The Research Officer is responsible for gathering, interpreting, and presenting data to guide innovation, policy development, and business growth.
Impact
The role holder plays a critical role in driving evidence-based decisions, fostering innovation, and improving operational efficiency by delivering accurate and insightful research.
Key Result Areas
Data Collection and Analysis
- Design and execute research studies to address specific organizational challenges or opportunities.
- Collect, organize, and analyze data from various sources, including market trends, customer feedback, and operational metrics.
Reporting and Presentation
- Prepare detailed research reports, including findings, conclusions, and actionable recommendations.
- Present research results to management and stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
Strategic Planning Support
- Provide data-driven insights to support the development and evaluation of company strategies.
- Assist in forecasting and trend analysis to anticipate future challenges and opportunities.
Research new technologies and best practices to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Innovation and Development
- Identify opportunities for innovation in electricity distribution and service delivery.
- Research new technologies and best practices to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Policy and Regulatory Research
- Conduct research on regulatory changes and their potential impact on company operations.
- Support compliance and policy development efforts with evidence-based inputs.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with other departments to align research efforts with organizational goals.
- Liaise with external research institutions, industry bodies, and government agencies as needed.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Develop metrics and frameworks to assess the impact of research initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented recommendations.
Continuous Learning and Development
- Stay updated on industry trends, research methodologies, and emerging technologies.
- Share knowledge and best practices across the organization.
Other Duties
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Research Manager or relevant authority.

Person Specifications
Academic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Research, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience
- At least 4 years of experience in research and analysis, preferably in the energy or utilities sector.
- Proven ability to design and execute research projects and present findings effectively.
Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in research tools and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Python).
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Working Environment
Office-based role with occasional travel to operational sites for data collection and stakeholder engagement.
Collaborative work environment requiring interaction with internal teams and external partners.
