Major Responsibilities
- Participate in financial planning, monitoring, and accounting for the schools.
- Ensure strict adherence to and implementation of the schools’ financial procedures.
- Timely preparation of the schools’ budget and provide guidance on budgetary controls.
- Responsible for the collection, receipting, and banking of all school revenues.
- Ensure all payments are properly authorized and adequately supported before preparing payment vouchers.
- Update data in the accounting system, maintaining daily ledgers, petty cash, bank transfers, and records of cash movements.
- Ensure all payment vouchers have proper accountability attached and are subsequently filed.
- Ensure timely dispatch of payments to suppliers after preparation.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the Principal Tutors, Deputy Accountant, and Finance Manager.
- Compile and update monthly reports on outstanding student fees and other dues, submitting them to the Principal Tutors for action.
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, general ledger, debtors, and creditors reconciliations for the schools.
- Prepare and submit periodic financial donor reports, ensuring compliance with donor reporting requirements.
- In liaison with the Schools Administrator, process payments for running service contracts for school suppliers, updating and tracking service contracts.
- In liaison with the Finance Manager and Deputy Accountant, prepare for external audit exercises and attend to external auditors.
- Prepare and maintain a fixed assets register for the schools and ensure insurance of school properties.
- Attend and participate in periodic school staff meetings.
- Perform any other duties incidental to the above as assigned by the Deputy Accountant and Finance Manager.
Experience
- 1 to 3 years in a similar role.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Good computer skills.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical and accounting skills.
- Excellent self-management skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to multitask and multi-skill.
Professional Degree/Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree in BCOM, BBA, or any other finance-related field.
