Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Store Manager to oversee the daily operations of Piato Restaurant in Kampala. The Store Manager will be responsible for managing inventory, ensuring smooth restaurant operations, and maintaining high standards of customer service. Restaurant store experience of at least 3 years is an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management:
- Oversee the procurement, storage, and management of restaurant supplies, including food ingredients, beverages, and other consumables.
- Monitor stock levels to ensure adequate supplies while minimizing waste and spoilage.
- Conduct regular stock audits and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best prices and ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Operational Oversight:
- Ensure the restaurant operates smoothly on a daily basis, coordinating between front-of-house (e.g., waiters/waitresses) and back-of-house (e.g., kitchen staff) teams.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards in all areas of the restaurant, including storage rooms, in compliance with health regulations.
- Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline operations.
- Staff Supervision:
- Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising restaurant staff, including waiters, waitresses, and support staff.
- Schedule staff shifts to ensure adequate coverage during peak and off-peak hours.
- Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and address any issues or conflicts promptly.
- Financial Management:
- Track inventory costs and work with the finance team to manage budgets and control expenses.
- Ensure proper handling of cash, mobile money (e.g., MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money), and card transactions in coordination with the cashier.
- Prepare reports on inventory usage, stock discrepancies, and operational expenses for management review.
- Customer Service:
- Support the team in delivering exceptional customer service to enhance the dining experience.
- Address customer complaints or concerns related to inventory or service promptly and professionally.
- Ensure that all menu items are available by maintaining proper stock levels.
- Vendor and Supplier Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure a reliable supply chain.
- Resolve any issues with deliveries, such as delays or incorrect orders, to minimize disruptions to restaurant operations.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, including food safety and labor laws.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on inventory, stock levels, and operational performance to the restaurant owner or general manager.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience:
- At least 3 years of restaurant store experience is an added advantage.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role in the hospitality industry is preferred.
- Education:
- A minimum of a Diploma in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and inventory management skills to handle stock efficiently.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities to supervise and motivate staff.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, suppliers, and customers.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel, inventory management software) for record-keeping and reporting.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English (the primary language of business in Kampala); knowledge of Luganda or Swahili is an advantage.
- Basic financial acumen to manage budgets and control costs.
- Other Requirements:
- High level of integrity and accountability, especially when handling inventory and financial transactions.
