Job Description
The purpose of the role is to support the development of LDC’s Stronger Coffee Initiative (SCI) in Uganda.
Stronger Coffee Initiative (SCI) is a new LDC-led platform for collaborative investments in coffee sustainability consisting of 3 interrelated areas of action:

Farmer Prosperity (incl. Gender Equity and Youth),
Low Carbon Production, and
Regenerative Agriculture.
Leveraging LDC’s experience, global reach and supply chain expertise, the SCI builds coalitions and increases opportunities for our partners to invest in these 3 areas for a stronger future - for coffee, for people and for the environment. Our goal is to facilitate collaborative investments that lead to measurable impact and shared rewards to scale sustainability across the value chain.

In this context, LDC Uganda is looking for a Project Manager that will facilitate the development and implementation of collaborative initiative projects in Uganda. The role will work in close collaboration with the Country Sustainability Manager, the Stronger Coffee Initiative Global Manager, the Regional Sustainability Manager, LDC Agronomists based in Uganda and partners LDC engages with locally.

Main accountabilities (Main Responsibilities)
Develop Stronger Coffee Initiative strategy in Uganda and its operational model based on the global SCI framework and the local context in close collaboration with the Country Sustainability Manager:
• Identify in coordination with sustainability and origination teams how to maximize project investments within existing and new supply chains covered by LDC’s Responsible Sourcing Program (RSP).
• Define a set of interventions and their operational model to be implemented within LDC’s supply chains to achieve the country SCI strategy.
• Lead the delivery of targets, work plans and budgets linked to the development of SCI within the country.

Lead the implementation of SCI within the country in coordination with the Sustainability manager and with local/international partners, customers, international organizations:
• Coordinate operations and administration (ensure clear and up-to-date interventions’ documentation. E.g., contracts, workplans, timeline, progress report etc.)
• Ensure timely and efficient delivery of outputs and outcomes.
• Ensure the Sustainability team is properly informed and resourced to undertake their responsibilities, provide support, coaching and back-stop to guarantee the operational models in place lead to efficient delivery of activities.
• Ensure work plans, budgets and reports are completed and delivered to partners in a timely manner.
• Manage M&E activities in coordination with the Sustainability Manager to track project progress and impacts.
• Report regularly to the Sustainability Manager about projects implementation.
• Build relations with donor agencies and sustainability stakeholders in Uganda. Participate in and pro-actively seek co-investment opportunities from external stakeholders to finance SCI implementation within the country.
• Support the development of marketing material to enrich external and customer communication content.
• Contribute to LDC’s understanding of sustainable coffee production and bring visibility on LDC’s Stronger Coffee Initiative by participating in appropriate forums and platforms in Uganda.

Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in sustainability management, agriculture, international development, or similar relevant training.
• Experience: 2-4 years with a minimum of three years’ experience in managing projects supporting smallholder farmers in coffee or other agricultural commodities, including program management, work planning, budgeting, and training local staff. Experience in coffee is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge: Strong presentation and communication skills (both written and oral). Knowledge of sustainability issues in smallholder farming (ideally coffee).
• Languages: Very good level of English is required (oral and written)
• Systems: Office (proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Organizing: Role requires management of resources (people, funding, material, support) to get things done, and requires managing multiple activities at once to accomplish a role requirements.
