Kilimo Trust is co-implementing a programme titled “Women and Youth Economic Empowerment in Fisheries through Inclusive Market Access” (WYEEFIMA). Led by the Africa Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat and TradeMark Africa, and funded by the Mastercard Foundation. The programme aims to economically empower women and youth (ages 18–35) by improving their participation in cross-border fisheries trade.
To support implementation in Uganda, Kilimo Trust is recruiting Village-Based Advisors (VBAs) to work within local communities, to organize, mobilize and actively participate in trainings, workshops and program activities.
Roles of the VBA under the WYEEFIMA program:
- Complete mandatory training before deployment.
- Support the implementation of Program activities at the community level.
- Organize and actively participate in trainings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
- Mobilize communities, onboard, and register Program participants and partners.
- Submit timely and accurate participant data and narrative reports to Resident Associates.
- Maintain regular communication with Resident Associates and gather field data, success stories, and community feedback.
- Monitor project progress within the community and report on key activities and outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Village-Based Advisor (VBA) role should possess the following:
- A Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor's degree in Fisheries, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in community development or field-based project implementation.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in local languages spoken in the deployment area is an added advantage.
Duty Station
The position will be based in one of the following locations, subject to programmatic needs and operational priorities:
- South-Western – Kasese / Bundibujo (1 VBA)
- West Nile / Northern – Buliisa & Pakwach (1 VBA), Nebbi & Arua (1 VBA), and Amuru (1 VBA).
- Central – Kyotera and Rakai (1 VBA)
- Eastern - Busia, Namayingo & Malaba (1 VBA), Jinja and Buikwe (1 VBA)
