JOB DETAILS:
The Austrian Red Cross (AutRC) is looking for an experienced and highly motivated WASH Delegate for Uganda, starting in November 2021. The delegate will support the implementation of projects in cooperation with the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) in the West Nile refugee settlements and host communities. The projects address needs in waters supply, sanitation and hygiene in several areas of the settlements. They will also focus especially on further developing waste management and faecel sludge management facilities. The delegate will be based in the West Nile region. The assignment is limited until October 2022.
Main duties and responsibilities
• Technical support to tender processes and supervision of construction work
• Coordinating the general project implementation plan with the various URCS teams
• Providing guidance on donor regulations on-site to ensure correct implementation by the field team
• Ensure proper narrative and financial reporting in country
• Close coordination with URCS implementing team, management und AutRC project manager in Vienna about necessary adjustments and revisions
• Support on request URCS WASH team
Profile and skills
• Austrian (EU) work permit
• Academic degree in civil engineering or equivalent education in a WASH related field with focus on water/sanitation construction work
• At least 3 years experience in WASH development - emergency sector, additional experience in e.g. solid waste management or hygiene promotion is a strong asset
• Experience in project management (including financial and narrative reporting)
• Excellent written and spoken English skills, German or spoken languages in Uganda are a strong asset
• Experience in the Red Cross- and Red Crescent Movement and experience in Africa are a strong asset
• Ability to work independently and in a multi-cultural team
• Strong motivation by humanitarian and development work, and high sensitivity to diversity
Compensation depends on qualifications and experience, minimum monthly all-in salary of € 3.495,00 gross.
