We are looking for dynamic, customer service orientated Professionals to work in our Agro-veterinary pharmacy section. Our state of the art Agro-veterinary pharmacy is open 7 days a week for our clients' needs. You will be working with a team of wonderful staff to perform your duties.

Job Title : Pharmacy Associate (Veterinary supplies) -- 2 Vacancies

Reports to : Pharmacy Manager

Duty station: Kampala

Job responsibilities:
Under supervision of the Company Pharmacist and with support of the Pharmacy manager, the job holder shall:

  • Assist clients to obtain medications for companion animal care.
  • Counsel and provide advice to animal owners/clients about veterinary drug administration, drug interactions, contraindications, safety and adverse effects.
  • Serve as liaison between animal owners and veterinarians concerning drug-related
    questions.
  • Assist with pharmaceutical care research involving animal species.
  • Manage drug inventory and storage in the pharmacy.
  • Provide veterinary medication-related consultative services to clients.
  • Maintain compliance with laws governing dispensing for animals.
  • Fill and dispense human approved medicine for extra-label use in animals.
  • Adhere to statutes, regulations, and policies governing compounding for animals.
  • Assist to Prepare and compound medications for animals to aid compliance.
  • Monitor trends in controlled substance prescriptions at the pharmacy
  • Maintain references/formularies about veterinary and human drugs.
  • Perform other duties in line with the job as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Pharmacist (B.PHARM) or Veterinary surgeon (BVM) or Animal husbandry Officer (Diploma in Animal husbandry/Diploma in Animal production and management) from recognized training institution or Veterinary assistant from recognized veterinary training institute or Pharmacy Technician (Diploma in Pharmacy) with veterinary practice experience
  • Knowledge of common animal disease states/conditions.
  • Understanding of Common animal disease pathophysiology.
  • Knowledge of commons drugs used in veterinary practice.
  • Knowledge of standard abbreviations in Veterinary practice
  • Differences in animal pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
  • Experience in Dispensing veterinary drugs, devices and equipment
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Basic computer skills – Microsoft office package
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prepare and compound medications for animals.
  • Knowledge of Pharmacology and therapeutics in animal species.
  • Counseling education for working with pet owners.
  • Experience in Dosing of animals. (e.g. allometric scaling)
  • Animal handling and routes of administration.
