Scope of work (tasks and implementation processes). When conducting financial and administrative one-on-one coaching with the business champions, the consultant is expected to establish clear objectives to guide the coaching process effectively. The coaching is expected to conform to the following generic steps. 1. Deeper dive to understanding each BC and their unique issues (financial positioning and projections) and how the financial health will shape business performance post grant. 2. Conduct a skill development session focusing on solutions and or alternatives. 3. Specific coaching and mentoring sessions. While following the above steps, financial and administrative coaching focus on the following core areas, in addition to others. 1. Financial Literacy. The consultant will be expected to improve the financial knowledge and understanding of the BCs, enabling them to make informed decisions and contribute to their institution's financial stability. 2. Budgeting and Financial Planning. The consultant is expected to assist the BCs in creating and managing their budgets, forecasting financial needs, and ensuring responsible financial planning within their respective departments or roles or business cases. 3. Optimum Resource Allocation. The exercise also aims at teaching the BCs how to allocate resources efficiently, minimize wastage, and prioritize expenditures to achieve their institutional goals for sustainability through gaining competitive advantage in the market, therefore, the consultant is expected to deliver in this area. 4. Increasing accountability. Sustainability of an institution is anchored on the degree of transparency through proper accountability, the consultant should de foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among the BCs departments for financial and administrative tasks, ensuring they are accountable for their actions and decisions. 5. Strengthening compliance. The coaching area should touch a compliance area which will ensure that the BCs management and employees understand and adhere to financial regulations, institutional policies, and industry standards, hence reducing the risk of non-compliance. 6. Record-Keeping and Documentation. The coaching and mentorship exercise should improve the BCs’ record-keeping skills to maintain accurate financial records, which is crucial for audits, reporting, resource/fund lobbing and decision-making. 7. Financial and administrative analysis skills. The consultant should help the BCs to develop and apply the ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and draw insights to inform strategic decisions based on facts for sustainability and growth of their institution. 8. Financial risks reduction and management. Minimization of financial risks is key for BCs sustainability, by consultant educating BCs about potential financial pitfalls and providing them with strategies to mitigate these risks, their interventions and organizations’ sustainability is assured. 9. Improvement in administrative efficiency. The consultant is expected to coach the BCs on the relevancy of having a streamlined administrative process, that reduce bureaucratic red tape, and enhance workflow efficiency within their institution. 10. Enhance communication skills. The consultant is expected to touch on the importance of effectiveness of general communication and communication of financial and administrative information, ensuring that information is conveyed clearly and accurately to relevant stakeholders and employee within the organization. 9. Participants The One-on-One coaching consultant will embrace participation of various stakeholders who will comprehensively inform the support required for the BCs to remain in their businesses sustainably and profitably. The participants in One-on-One coaching may include: 1. BCs leaders and technical staff, who are at the core of the exercise. 2. And other Relevant Stakeholders depending on the resources and time. 10. Coordination and Reporting of work All CRAFT project team will be responsible for the coordination of the activity but under the guidance of the project manager, roles may be delineated. The reporting will be directly to the project manager. The consultant will develop a workplan which will be used to track progress of the coaching exercise. 11. Deliverables The One-on-One coaching expert/consultant is expected to deliver the following. 1. A brief inception report after sign-off. 2. A draft report for review and feedback. 3. The final coaching report including the One-on-One financial and administrative coaching action framework. The report should be comprehensive entailing: 1. The mentorship/coaching approaches/methodology. 2. Data/issues obtained from each BC, and data or issues management processes. 3. Analysis and findings/results. 4. Lessons learned and recommendations. 5. BCs and district feedback and engagement summary report. 6. Annexes of the tools and materials used during the coaching processes. 7. Action framework. 12. Assessment criteria • Eligibility criteria 5%. • Technical 70%. • Financial 25%. Qualifications 13. Qualification and Experience 1. The consultant should be eligible to operate in Uganda, with valid trading licence, tax clearance, enough staff capacity as well track record on similar work. The team/institution 2. Should have appropriate qualification as the assignment requires and this will be determined but preferably higher degree in Business Administration, Business, finance, microfinance, development studies, sociology, management, cooperative management, statistics etc. from a reputable institution. 3. Familiarity with cooperative, SMEs, financial and administration analysis, Agro-industrialization and value chain analysis, food and market systems trends of Uganda. 4. Experience in technical report writing, evidence generation and generalization. 5. Excellent organizational and people management skills. 6. Demonstrated experience of coaching/mentoring SMEs and Cooperatives in Uganda and transforming the identified issues into an actionable workstream. 7. Experience in training and capacity building of cooperatives & SMEs. 8. Previous experience in conducting a similar work is a requirement. 9. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across multiple organisations and cultures. 10. Fluent in English language (written and spoken).
