Medical Teams International is a faith-based not-for-profit health relief and development organization with a Calling: "Daring to love like Jesus, we boldly break barriers to health and restore wholeness in a hurting world." MTI operates in Uganda across regions such as West Nile, Southwest, and Midwest. It provides Comprehensive Primary Health Care, Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS, and Nutrition to people in need. MTI is seeking to recruit a highly competent, dynamic, trainable, and experienced individual to fill the following position:

Position Summary:
The Human Resources Director will provide overall leadership and strategic direction in designing, developing, and implementing strategies and systems to attract, develop, and retain committed and productive human resources to deliver MTI’s goals and the Country Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and lead the implementation of HR strategies, systems, and processes to attract and retain a highly skilled workforce.
• Provide oversight and leadership to ensure compliance with HR policies, employment laws, and ethical standards.
• Manage HR operations, including recruitment, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, and compensation.
• Partner with senior management to align HR strategies with organizational goals and foster a positive work culture.
• Oversee budget preparation for HR activities and provide financial oversight.
• Develop and implement training programs to build the capacity of employees and improve staff performance.
• Monitor compliance with Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) and other organizational systems for HR-related operations.
• Act as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders to ensure best practices in staffing and organizational development.

Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
• Academic Qualifications:
o Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Psychology, Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources, or a related field.
o Certification as a Senior Professional in HR is preferred.
• Work Experience:
o A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience managing HR operations, with at least 5 years at a Senior Management level.
o Proven experience working with ERP systems.
o Experience working with a large International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) is an added advantage.
o Extensive knowledge of Uganda’s employment legislation and regulations.
o Familiarity with humanitarian staffing needs and emergency operations is a plus.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong understanding of HR principles and best practices, including recruitment, performance management, and employee relations.
• Expertise in budgeting, planning, and financial oversight for HR activities.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP software such as Sage or Unit4.

• Analytical thinking and decision-making skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
• Fluency in English and strong report-writing skills.
• Results-driven and detail-oriented.
