Role Summary
Position: Partnership and Resource Mobilization Specialist
Region: East and Southern Africa (Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda)
Reporting to: Vice President, Partnerships (Executive Team Member)
Travel Requirements: Regular travel within East and Southern Africa and occasional trips to global offices in Toronto and London.
Purpose:
The role aims to expand RTP’s funding partnerships in East and Southern Africa. The Specialist will lead strategic donor engagement, develop partnerships, and achieve revenue growth in line with RTP's mission.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Positioning & Planning (40%)
• Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors in the region.
• Develop donor engagement plans and track funding trends.
• Align RTP’s programs with donor priorities and funding opportunities.
• Coordinate business development strategies to meet annual growth targets.
• Provide expertise in proposal preparation and bidding opportunities.
2. Networking and Relationship Building (35%)
• Build relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders.
• Represent RTP in external meetings and working groups to enhance visibility.
• Mentor and support Country Office leadership in donor engagement.
• Promote RTP’s technical expertise and program impact.
3. Resource Mobilization Capacity Building (20%)
• Coordinate proposal and budget development across Country Offices.
• Identify capacity-building needs in fundraising and partnership development.
• Share knowledge and best practices across RTP’s global and regional teams.
• Build partnerships to achieve shared objectives and collaborative funding efforts.
4. Other Duties (5%)
• Undertake additional responsibilities as required to support RTP’s mission.

Qualifications
Education/Training
• Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Political Science, International Relations, or related field.
Experience
• 10 years of experience in partnership development with institutional donors in Africa.
• Proven success in engaging donors like USAID, FCDO, UN agencies, and European Commission.
• Experience in partnerships related to education, mental health, psychosocial support (MHPSS), and gender equality.
• Resource mobilization expertise, including facilitating learning and capacity building.
• Strong track record in proposal development and winning grants.
Competencies
• Outstanding networking and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage complex timelines and collaborate effectively with teams.
• Self-starter, able to work independently and achieve results.
Technical Skills
• Deep knowledge of donor trends, policies, and funding mechanisms.
• Understanding of humanitarian principles, funding structures, and children’s development needs.
Languages
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
Desirable Skills (Bonus)
• Experience with African-based foundations or donors like ECHO.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Technical expertise in education or MHPSS programs.
