GLRA/DAHW was founded in 1957 as an association supporting the work of a doctor caring for leprosy patients in Ethiopia. Since then, GLRA/DAHW extended its support to many other projects, now numbering well over 350 in 46 countries. DAHW employs 60 full and part-time workers in the central headquarters in Wuerzburg, and in its Muenster, Berlin and Magdeburg regional branches, which are mainly for public relations and fundraising activities. GLRA/DAHW also has 13 overseas representatives offices and is a founding member of ILEP, the International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations.

About

Eldis shares the best in global development research for policy and practice.

The exchange of knowledge is a key component in achieving more equal and sustainable societies. But, despite huge advances in the internet and digital technologies, and increasing demand for research evidence, access to knowledge remains a problem for many development practitioners, decision-makers and researchers.

Eldis supports free and open access to useful and relevant research on global development challenges. FInd out how you can help on our contribute page.

What we offer

Eldis provides free access to relevant, up-to-date and diverse research on international development issues. Our database includes over 50,000 summaries and provides free links to full-text research and policy documents from over 8,000 publishers. Each document is selected by members of our editorial team.

You can search for the information you need according to key development topics and the country they relate to.

Our Key Issues Guides provide a concise and accessible introduction to key development issues and, for researchers, are an excellent way to introduce research evidence to a broad global audience of development practitioners, decision-makers and researchers.

Our blog offers commentary, lessons and opinion from invited contributors and partners

You can keep up to date with the latest developments in our news section or subscribe to our email updates, Twitter or Facebook to get updates in a format that suits you.

Who produces Eldis?

Eldis is hosted by the Institute of Development Studies based in the UK but our services profile work by a growing global network of research organisations and knowledge brokers.

These partners help to ensure that Eldis can present a truly global picture of development research. We make a special effort to cover high quality research from smaller research producers, especially those from developing countries, alongside that of the larger, northern based, research organisations.

Visit our contribute page to find out about our editorial policy and how to get your research into Eldis.

Who uses Eldis?

Our services are used by a large global audience of development practitioners, decision makers and researchers. More than half of our regular visitors are based outside of Europe and North America.

But Eldis is not just a website. All of our content is Open Licensed so that it can be re-used by anyone that needs it. Website managers, applications developers and Open Data enthusiasts can all re-use Eldis content to enhance their own services or develop new tools. See our Get the Data page for more information.
