ACORD (Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development) is the global standards-setting body for the insurance and related financial services industries. ACORD facilitates fast, accurate data exchange, and efficient workflows through the development of electronic standards, standardized forms, and tools to support their use. ACORD members worldwide include hundreds of insurance and reinsurance companies, agents and brokers, software providers, financial services organizations and industry associations. ACORD maintains offices in New York and London.

Since 1970, ACORD has been an industry leader in identifying ways to help its members make improvements across the insurance value chain. Implementing ACORD Standards improves data quality and flow, increase efficiency, and realize billion-dollar savings to the global insurance industry.

ACORD engages more than 36,000 participating organizations spanning 100 countries, including insurance and reinsurance companies, agents and brokers, software providers, financial services organizations and industry associations. With the tools and resources provided by ACORD, our members are equipped to address current business and technology imperatives while influencing and shaping the future.ACORD seeks to provide the insurance industry and related financial services industries with a structured and cooperative process to create data standards which facilitate data and information exchange in support of eBusiness strategy.
ACORD's mission includes development, maintenance, and distribution of the highest-quality data standards and standardized forms, along with training and tools to assist in their implementation.

Interested parties are welcome to participate in our open process of developing and maintaining the Standards according to the policies and procedures stated in our governing documents.For over 50 years, ACORD has played a key role in facilitating efficiency, effectiveness, and interoperability across the insurance value chain. Today, we engage more than 36,000 organizations across more than 100 countries, bringing together a diverse mix of stakeholders with a vested interest in improving our industry. But it all started back in 1970 with a few visionaries with the idea that industry standards could make things better for agencies, carriers, and their customers.

We offer many Standards, as well as implementation guides and construction tools, to ACORD members.
