CEDO’s mission is to promote the rights of children to a healthy, secure and value adding childhood. This is to be achieved by empowering communities to improve the quality of their lives thereby enabling them build a sustainable community with improved standards of living.CEDO-Uganda’s strategic goal for the period 2015-2019 is: “The realization of Sustainable and Secure Livelihoods Among poor Children and their Families, and Achievement of Positive Changes In their Overall Position and Condition”.
Underlying the above overall goal is the recognition that sustainable improvements in the quality of life of marginalized children and their families crucially depend upon their empowerment to assert claims and act collectively for the progressive realization of their rights. CEDO-Uganda also does recognize that,Orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) do best when they are supported and cared for in their own communities, among extended families, friends, and neighbors. To increased capability of the caregiver to provide for the OVC, CEDO-Uganda harnesses the talents, creativity, and commitment of communities to sustainably care for their children and build local resources; developing home grown scalable models that can be replicated elsewhere.
CEDO envisages a nation where absolute poverty, poor health and rights abuse have been overcome and people live in Dignity.
The organization pursues a holistic approach in addressing the problems of poverty and social injustice which is based on core principles that have been nurtured since its inception and continue to inspire and motivate its staff and govern the day-to-day activities of the organization.
