Autism Care Uganda is a parent led organization that seeks to provide support to parents of children with autism. We give them information about Autism and help them interact with other parents with autistic children. The centre also has a shop for supplements for Autistic people. We also has a charity shop whose proceeds are used to raise awareness about autism. We have a therapy and diagnosis room for children with autism and work with Occupational and speech therapists to provide therapy.

      Advocacy

ACU seeks to promote a responsive and accountable national legislative agenda to advance the quality of life of all diagnosed with autism. There is need to make relevant Acts and policies that support people with autism. We would like the issues affecting people with autism catered for in all legislation. We work to create collaborative solutions to the challenges faced by children with Autism. Many laws can be effected to cater for the needs of children with Autism e.g there should be mandatory screening of children for autism done together with other national programs such as vaccination.

      Awareness raising

ACU creates public awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in order to convert the attitudes and behavior of the public through education and sensitization, to create a better understanding of the disorder and the people living with it. Autism Care Uganda provides easy to understand, practical information related to ASD for a broad audience on a wide range of educational topics to enable everyone to make informed choices while dealing with children with Autism. We educate individuals with autism, their loved ones, professionals from multiple disciplines, and the public at large about autism to foster acceptance and appreciation of individuals on the autism spectrum as valued members of the community.

      Community

ACU works to increase the quality of life of everyone with ASD by building autism friendly, inclusive communities. Autism Care Uganda believes that people with autism deserve to live, work, play, socialize, learn and worship in the setting and manner of their own choosing. Inclusion is what we desire to see in all sectors of life. We would like to see an inclusive education sector, a health sector that caters for the needs and limitations of children with Autism, a hotel industry that caters for all.
