As PIBID strives to kick-start state of the art banana processing enterprises targeting rural farmers, it is guided by these core values

Ethics is the basic principle which led to the birth of the PIBID project in line with the national motto for God and my country. This therefore calls for an inherent responsibility to upholding what is morally right and acceptable irrespective of personal creed or confession and putting the national interest above personal interest at all times.

Pledging mutual respect for one another, endeavoring to fully value and affirm the dignity and uniqueness of each other. Respecting and affirming others, as well as respecting each others their time and property rights. Respect for the laws and rules of the PIBID project and those of the Nation.

Pledging to integrate actively what we believe, with what we do. Doing the right things for the right reasons, whether or not anyone will know.

4. Accountability
Committed to being good stewards of all resources by exercising thoughtful and cost effective use of the time, skills and finances we have strive for quality and seek to maximize the opportunities we have to fulfil our mission.

5. Working To Succeed
The routes (activities) of getting to the vision may change but entertain no doubt that we have all it takes to accomplish the PIBID’s mission with God as our help.

  • Tasked with carrying out all administrative matters of the project.

    PIBID Secretariat: Functions

    • Carrying out the overall general administrations/ management of the project
    • Preparation of routine correspondence on Project administrative matters
    • Custodianship of all Project reports and documents& property rights
    •  Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
    •  Production and dissemination of Project progress reports.
    •  Schedule and organize Project-related meetings /workshops / seminars; conventions etc.
    • Tasked with handling all aspects related to the industrial park.

      Functions of ITP

      • Commercialisation of proven secondary value addition technologies
      • Provision of business & product development& quality assurance services to the private sector
      • Overall management/oversight over the ITP and Private Sector operations
      • Establishing a network of market information centres linking farmers, traders and community processor organisations.

        This will build capacity for competitive business enterprise dev’t. by

        • Identifying market opportunities and creating market entry strategies (including branding, logos etc.) for banana value-added products.
        • Branding of different tooke products for quality and safety
        • Building end-user profiles for banana value-added products.
        • Testing end-user responses to new product formulations/recipes.
        • Creating awareness building/adoption campaigns.
        • Conducting training in business management and marketing.
        • Facilitating & promoting linkages among farmers, processing associations, processors, consumers & service providers
        • We challenge our farmers to build brands that shift categories and shape culture because we recognise that at a time when people are way more interested in their lives than in the brands we are charged with marketing, we need to develop brands that deliver experiences and champion issues that people genuinely want to engage with.

          Being developed in two stages

          Stage I- At the TBI

          • Training of trainers in value addition to matooke
          • Pilot processing to stimulate the entrepreneurship in banana value addition-through bulk storage of both of Tooke flours
          • Product development & alternative utilization of by-products of the banana industry.
          • Develop quality assurance and safety

          Stage II- Community processing centers

          • Community mobilization, & skills development in Value addition.
          • Establishment of processing centers- dryers fuelled by biomass generated gas.
