SL is open Monday-Friday and carries out both children's activities and income generating activities for 22 children at the centre and at their homes.
Suubi Lyaffe is a non-profit making community based organization which was founded in February 2013 by a group of parents who have children with different disabilities. Parents of these children were mobilized through a community approach involving community leaders and villiage health teams, hence resulting into the discovery of many children with a disability living under isolation and rejection due to stigma. The organization is located in Mutungo, Uganda.
The organization is comprised of 22 children with an age group of 5 months to 17 years. 6 of the children come to their catchment area and they do home visits for the remaining 16 children. The mission of the organization is to promote the quality of life of children living with disabilities in their catchment areas of Mutungo, Makindye and Sssabagabo. It's vision is to create an environment where the children living with a disability can have a life in all it's fullness and be responsible citizens in the future. It's motto is to rehabilitate a disabled child today for a better life tomorrow. It upholds the values of non-partisanship, integrity, equality, transparency and accountability.
SL carries out both children's activities and income generating activities. Children's activities include physiotherapy, self-maintenance, numeracy, and literacy while income generating activities include but are not limited to liquid soap making, book making, and craft making.
