Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Electrician to join our Engineering team at a luxury 5-star hotel in Uganda. The Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing all electrical systems and equipment within the hotel premises, ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of our guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, sockets, panels, and kitchen and HVAC equipment.
  • Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests related to electrical issues.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance as per the schedule and maintain records of all maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning systems and recommend necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Ensure all electrical installations are up to code and comply with safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members to ensure efficient hotel operations.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of electrical supplies and tools.
  • Coordinate with external contractors when necessary and supervise outsourced electrical work.
  • Participate in energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs.
  • Provide support during events, functions, or emergencies requiring temporary power setups.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to guest experience during maintenance tasks.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Valid electrician license or certification recognized in Uganda.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an electrician, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, safety codes, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience working with high-voltage systems and hotel equipment (generators, elevators, HVAC).
  • Familiarity with BMS (Building Management Systems) is a plus.

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional appearance and conduct.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
