Role Overview
As an Accountant at Level Africa Uganda Limited, you will be instrumental in managing and analyzing our financial data, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the overall financial operations of the company. In this hybrid role based in Kampala, you will work closely with the CEO and a small team, contributing to the accurate maintenance of financial records and the preparation of insightful financial reports. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual who is proactive and possesses strong analytical skills, ready to thrive in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Position Details
• Employment Type: Full-Time
• Location: Kampala / Hybrid Work Arrangement
• Reporting Structure: Reports to CEO
• Start Date: As soon as possible

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.
• Manage payroll processing and other employee-related financial activities.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations, as well as company policies.
• Prepare and submit tax filings and assist with audits by providing necessary documentation.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and variances.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related fields.
• Experience: 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Mandatory Skills: Reading Comprehension, Critical Thinking, Writing, Mathematics, Time Management.
• Required Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in Financial Analysis Software (Power BI, Excel), Accounting Software (QuickBooks), Document Management Software (Google Drive, Dropbox), and MS365.
• Language Requirements: Proficient in English.
• Certifications: ACCA is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
• Desired Additional Skills: Judgment and Decision Making, Complex Problem Solving, Active Learning.
• Beneficial Experience: Familiarity with fintech platforms or SaaS-based accounting tools.
• Preferred Certifications: CPA or equivalent.
• Additional Technical Knowledge: Understanding of financial regulations and standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
