How can you make a difference?
Under the general supervision of the Child Protection Specialist, the Child Protection Officer (Emergency) provides professional technical assistance and support for child protection in emergency programme design, planning and implementation, management and evaluation of programme/project activities, assessments, data analysis and progress reporting, in support of achievement of programme goals and results. H/She prepares, executes, manages, and implements a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, programme progress monitoring, evaluating, and reporting.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:
• Support to programme development and planning
• Programme management, monitoring, assessments, reporting and delivery of results
• Technical and operational support to programme implementation
• Networking and partnership building
• Rights-based and results-based programming approach fully incorporated into all phases of programme and projects processes.
• Commitment and institutional capacities of the national and local partners gained and established.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
• University degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, or other relevant disciplines, with specialized training in conflict resolution.
• A minimum of two years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection related areas is required.
• Experience in Child protection in emergency programme planning and management is desirable.
• Developing country work experience (for IP) or field work experience (for NO) is considered as an asset
• Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
• Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage.
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.
