Self Help Africa (SHA) is an international NGO dedicated to the vision of an economically thriving and resilient rural Africa. We have close to 20 years of experience working with smallholder farmers, farmer associations, cooperatives and agribusinesses across Africa to help farmers grow and sell more food, improve diets, diversify incomes and make their livelihoods more sustainable and resilient to external shocks. SHA also builds awareness of issues affecting smallholders and represent their interests at policy and institutional level. SHA in partnership with UN World Food Programme (WFP) and two District Local Governments (DLGs) is implementing the next phase of the Agriculture and Market Support (AMS) project in Kiryandongo and Adjumani Districts. The project’s overall objective is to contribute to resilient and diversified livelihoods for smallholder farmers, especially youth and women. SHA urgently seeks to recruit a Consultant to fill the following position to support project interventions.

Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager the Consultant will train Farmer Groups and Farmer Organisations on value addition of Soya and Groundnuts, cassava and maize products in order to increase their income, market opportunities, and overall sustainability by transforming their raw agricultural commodities into value-added products that cater to consumer demands and preferences.

Key areas of responsibilities include:
• To equip participants with knowledge and skills on processing and value addition principles for cassava, maize, soya bean and groundnut products;
• To train participants in value addition of agricultural products to diversify incomes;
• Equip participants with knowledge and skills on packaging and branding;
• Train participants to Access Higher Value Markets;
• Train participants on enhanced Food Security;
• Submit a training report.
