Job title: Data Manager - Programming

We operate regional distribution hubs and build relationships directly with customers through the SmartHome sales operation. We’ve seen 100%+ year on year growth for years and have reached over 800,000 African households with products that deliver health and income benefits. A typical Smarthome stove saves each family we reach about 9% of their annual income while reducing air pollution.
UpEnergy has a 10-year track record of building projects that overperform expectations in the generation of emissions reductions, and that deliver on our performance promises to our customers. We are one of the largest developers by volume of projects focused on poverty alleviation through energy savings and fuel switching. Our team has a collective 50 years of climate finance experience and is at the forefront of Paris-era project finance.

Key responsibilities
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot data collection and cloud-based data aggregation tools
• Design automated tools and access (backend/frontend) for various UpEnergy employees to extract data from primary and secondary sources of the UpEnergy databases and take appropriate action.
• Flagging corrupted data and fixing coding errors and related problems to a standardized format needed by the department.
• Performing analysis to assess quality of data and draw insight from verification reports and any data that comes in on Google forms or other online verification processes.
• Periodic review of data management processes and initiate robust IT system solutions that will ensure timely and efficient execution of tasks.
• Establish rules and procedures for data sharing with upper management, external stakeholders etc
• Monitor and analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.)
• Ensure digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses
• Troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications
• Design\Implement Data Management strategies which include validation of source data and the use of data in management reporting.

Does this sound like you?
• Experience in data management, analytics and cloud-based computing, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
• Technical skills including advanced knowledge of spreadsheet tools (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets), command-line scripting, database languages (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and general familiarity with cloud-based data processing tools such as AWS.
• General understanding of how data engineering workflows feed into data visualization software such as Tableau and PowerBI.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Data Analytics or related experience.
• Experience handling multiple projects while successfully meeting project deadlines and a desire to take on increased responsibilities quickly; project management, experience is a plus.
