Job Purpose:
Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited (UWEAL) is a membership based Organization that empowers Women in Business through Advocacy, Networking and Capacity Building.
We are seeking for a Fundraising and Resource Mobilization Officer in charge of writing donor fund proposals, establishing and promoting the brand of UWEAL, Raising awareness about the organization’s work at various forums and ensuring transparent information sharing with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board. He or she should be a strategic thinker with strong understanding of the development sector.
Roles and Responsibilities
Fundraising
• Developing, implementing and monitoring fundraising strategies.
• Conducting research on potential donors/partners such as Government Institutes and Organizations that match UWEAL’s Vision and Activities.
• Developing, managing and updating a database of Donors/Partners and effectively maximizing these relationships.
• Leading in grant proposal writing process, this involves writing project and budget plan proposals and coordinating with the different writing sub-committees of UWEAL
• Developing a fund generation and resource mobilization work plan and constantly follow up the implementation of the plan. This involves writing and designing materials for communications with different prospective donors and agencies.
• Assisting in mobilizing non-financial resources from private sectors entities, individuals and corporate agencies.
• Coordinate processing of agreements in connection with funding opportunities and ensure effective and timely follow-up in terms of submission of reports to the donors and grant renewal proposals.
• Developing annual work plans based on the approved strategy and if needed, preparing income and expenditure budgets for each fundraising initiatives.
• Developing and coordinating web-based fundraising.
• Ensuring all donors/partners receive appropriate and timely reports and updates
• Helping UWEAL members in developing business plans
• Sensitizing and training staff on fundraising, communication skills and strategy.
• Participate in the preparation of quality financial and narrative reports to donors
• Ensuring that fundraising and resource mobilization information are up-to-date on the UWEAL website
Desired Skills and Experience:
Qualifications Required:
• Advanced University degree from a recognized education institution in any of the following area: Social Science, Public Health, Business Administration, Public Relations, Development Studies or any other related areas.
Experience:
• At least (5) years of professional experience in grant writing, capacity building, resource mobilization and advocacy
• Good knowledge of proposal and grant writing experience
• Experience working in National and International Organizations with clear focus on women, livelihoods, grant writing and advocacy.
• Strong organizational skills, with an ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in English
