Job Description

Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee (www.rescue.org) is a world leader in relief, rehabilitation and post-conflict development services for those affected by violent conflict and oppression. The IRC is currently working in over 40 countries around the world, addressing both the immediate and lifesaving needs of conflict affected people in emergencies and the reconstruction needs of post-conflict societies.
The IRC began programming in northern Uganda in 1998 in response to mass displacement and devastation Brought by rebel group, the Lord’s Resistance Army. In 2002, the IRC expanded to the remote, conflict-affected region of Karamoja and in 2011, began working with refugees in Kampala. Monitoring the influx of South Sudanese refugees at the end of 2015, the IRC began scaling up its response to refugees arriving in the West Nile region.
By promoting durable solutions that deliver on the interdependent aims of saving lives, strengthening institutions, and supporting social cohesion, the IRC in Uganda is laying the building blocks for long-term stability and development –bringing people from harm to home.
The IRC currently works in 8 districts in Uganda, including, Lamwo, Kyegegwa, Moroto, Amudat, Yumbe, Arua, Kasese and Kampala.
The IRC is currently implementing its health and nutrition program in West Nile and Acholi focusing on providing primary health care services to refugees in their settlements.

Job Overview:
The HIA will be based in Lamwo, Palabek refugee settlement with the responsibility of collecting data from the different departments, providing guidance to other health workers on recording, supervising and analyzing project data to gauge project progress and guide facility decision making.
S/He is responsible for data collection, analysis and safe storage of project and patients records. Ensure that health facilities are equipped with data collection tools and replenish them in a timely manner. Develop data bases for all health projects and update on a regular basis and put in place a system of control and accountability of all health activities. Collate and verify accuracy of records daily, weekly, monthly, bi-annually, and annually depending on the need.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Timely data collection, validation, and verification in line with project/donor requirements.
•Ensure data collection, analysis and storage is in appropriate data bases.
•Ensure availability of HMIS, HIS and any other data tools in the facilities.
•Processing data into useful information system for decision making.
•Produce monthly and quarterly health indicator data against targets to gauge performance progress and guide decision making
•Conduct monthly data analysis and presentation during project review meetings.
•Adhere to professional code of conduct and ethics.
•Any other duties/roles/responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications
•Certificate in medical records from a recognized institution.
•Strong analytical skills.
•Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to gain trust and build relationships.
•Ability to handle multiple tasks, proven self-initiative and problem-solving abilities.
•High standard of spoken and written English.
•Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, and Power Point.
•Be able to work in a stressful setting and adapt quickly to changing environments
•At-least two years’ experience in a similar role
•Experience working in a humanitarian-based organization will be an added advantage.
