The aBi Group consists of two companies Limited by Guarantee; aBi Development and aBi Finance. The main focus of aBi Development is to increase agricultural production and value addition by extending matching grants and business development services (BDS) to agribusinesses, farmer organizations and intermediaries. The grants and BDS enhance planning and management, production and business infrastructure, and upstream and downstream market linkages of producers and agribusinesses. aBi Finance expands access to business finance for agricultural producers and agribusinesses by offering to Financial Institutions (FIs), financial incentives and infrastructure that make lending to the agricultural sector more attractive and less risky.

Knowledge, Skills & Competences
• Knowledge and experience with International Standards for Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, under the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) of the IIA.
• Good knowledge of IPPF/ Standards of internal audit.
• Knowledge and experience with international accounting and auditing standards including IPSAS.
• Good understanding of relevant Ugandan laws.
• Good oral and writing/ report writing skills.
• Ability to audit in an automated environment and with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities
Main Purpose
• The Internal Auditor is responsible for implementing internal audit assignments in line with International Professional Practices Framework of Internal Audit (IPPF) and aBi Policies and Procedures.
• S/he leads the execution of each assignment in providing independent and objective assurance and consulting on the effectiveness of aBi’s governance, risk management and internal control processes to ensure effective and efficient operations, accuracy in financial reporting and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, Policies and Procedures.
• A critical point is to provide assurance to the Board and Senior Management that what is reported to them may be trusted and is verified on the ground and that aBi operations are managed effectively and efficiently.
• In addition, ensure that there is a good system of internal controls in place to prevent fraud and mitigate other key organisational risks.

Area of Responsibility:
Workplan
• Contribute to the development of aBi's internal audit annual plan by identifying and assessing risks over key aBi operations.
Managing audits and investigations
• Execute audit assignments in accordance with the audit plan and best practice and good practice in internal audit professional practice; give assurance if what is reported is true on the ground.
Supporting continuous improvement
• Monitor and support the implementation of corrective actions arising from audit activities; create a culture of continuous improvement.
Advisory
• Provide advisory and consulting services that add value and improve aBi's operations.

Qualifications
• Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or Business Administration (Accounting), Bachelor of Science in Accounting or any other related course.
• Professional qualification and membership to professional bodies such as ACCA/ ICPAU/IIA/CISA/CFE etc.

Details of experience
• 5 years auditing experience in donor funded programs/ projects/ operations.
• MS Office experience.

Level of Education: Bachelor Degree
