JOB DETAILS:
Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
To establish and embed formal Data Governance processes, frameworks, and policies, and proactively identifying opportunity for improvement with regards to data quality, and lead initiatives to resolve long-standing quality issues. The role will also provide expert guidance on data development, migration, data quality and change management within the enterprise data ecosystems.
The data governance manager will be responsible for ensuring the availability, usability, integrity, and security of the data in the enterprise data warehouse, in compliance with internal data standards and policies and legal frameworks.
They will also be responsible for management of access to enterprise data by both internal and external parties in compliance with the legal applicable legal frameworks, in addition to overseeing the data development projects.
Main Job Functions:
• Oversee design of data models for implementation in EVA and ADAM
• Oversee UI/UX design for data visualization across the organization
• Put in place governance policies, frameworks, and processes for access of data assets by internal and external parties
• Oversee implementation of frameworks for best practices for data development and visualization
• Superintend implementation of group approved data quality, data governance tools, frameworks, and techniques.
• Create and maintain a register of all data sharing agreements with 3rd parties in compliance with the approved processes and legal frameworks
• Oversee all data development projects in liaison with Technology project teams and BI delivery vendors
• Oversee selection and implementation of data development and visualization tools
• Provide technical support to product development and change management teams by identifying the impact of changes to the data ecosystem and recommending best practices for implementation
Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
• Postgraduate qualification in project management, data governance, data science or IT management is desirable
• Recognized Data Management qualification (e.g. DAMA) is an added advantage
Experience:
• 5+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated skills in management of data governance, design, and visualization projects
• Demonstrated experience in UI/UX design concepts
• Proficiency in Data Science & ML development
• Experience in implementation of data governance tools, frameworks, and best practices
• Experience in deployment of big data platforms and technologies such as Hadoop Hortonworks, Spark e.t.c
• Experience in design and implementation of data models and ETL pipelines for AI, ML operations and data visualization projects
• At least 3 years’ experience in managing data engineers and analyst teams
• At least 3 years’ experience in a telecommunication environment
Technical Skills:
• Varied and detailed knowledge of one or more Data Management areas such as Data Quality, Data Migration, Document Management, Metadata Management etc
• Knowledge of one or more Data Governance or Data Quality tools (e.g. Informatica, Erwin, Collibra, EDQ etc)
• Understanding of data privacy and protection laws, policies, and frameworks
• Knowledge of automation, analysis and visualization using tools such as SQL, Python, MATLAB/R, Power BI, and Tableau
• High proficiency in Microsoft Suite of products, especially, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as SharePoint
• Operational knowledge of cloud-based data platforms such as GCP, Azure

• Strong ability to communicate embed information, business process and system wide changes to a technical and nontechnical audience
