Job Title: Manager Settlements & Reconciliations
Reporting to: Chief Finance Officer

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
The Manager Settlements & Reconciliations will direct and manage Transactional operations of the various Trust Accounts held by MTN Mobile Money business at the respective banks. The job holder is accountable for periodic reconciliations of the various Trust Accounts to ensure consistency and parity between eMoney in the Mobile Money platform and balances held on the Trust Accounts

Main Job Functions:
• Develop, implement, and enforce the Trust Account Operations policies, processes and procedures.
• Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations of all the Mobile Money Trust Accounts in line with the laid down processes and procedures.
• Timely resolution of outstanding items on the Trust accounts versus eMoney on the Mobile Money platform.
• Investigate and clear queries in a timely manner, provide update and escalations of queries internally and externally.
• Ensure timely settlements of partners participating on the MTN Mobile Money ecosystem.
• Identify process gaps and spearhead the implementation of initiatives such as automation tools for process improvements within the unit.
• Daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations of Internal accounts as well as key partner accounts on the Mobile Money platform.
• Identifying, monitoring and reporting suspicious activity in line with the AML/CFT, KYC programs & the Mobile Money policies / regulatory framework within the unit
• Escalate any process gaps and incidents including near misses to the Chief Financial Officer.
• Develop Settlements & Reconciliations staff through training, mentoring and identification of their needs.
• Manage, Train and develop direct reporting staff as well as fostering a team approach by actively building strong working relationships within the unit.
• Establish and review key risk indicators/key control standards within the unit and implement action plans to minimize any exposure to fraud and losses.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
Education:

• A Business degree in finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Management or any relevant field.
• Relevant Practical training in Escrow/Trust Accounts Operations.
Experience & Skills:
• A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in Banking or Fintech operations.
• A minimum of 2 years’ progressive experience in General Ledger Reconciliations within Banking or Fintech industry.
• Proven exposure in Transactional Settlements and Escrow Accounts Reconciliations
• Knowledge and experience in Digital Banking or Mobile Money Transactional flows
• Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with and manage customer expectations (internal and external) stakeholders who impact performance.
• Knowledge and effective application of all relevant Banking/Fintech/Mobile Money policies, processes, procedures and guidelines to consistently achieve required compliance standards or benchmarks.
• Ability of open communication, teamwork and trust that are needed to support true performance and customer-service oriented culture.
• Knowledge and exposure in Banking or Fintech operations is a must.
• Good knowledge on Personal Data Privacy Ordinance, Anti-Money Laundering Ordinance, and relevant regulatory governance would be a definite advantage
• Possess good awareness of operational risk and sensitive to operational irregularity
• Good team player, positive attitude, and willing to work under high pressure and tight timeline

• The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form in a professional manner is deemed essential.
• Ability to build functioning working relationships across organizational, corporate, and cultural boundaries.
• Ability to demonstrate positive image and role model MTN’s values and leadership behaviours.
• Must be a person of impeccable integrity.
• Possession of excellent people managerial skills
