JOB DETAILS:
• Mengo Hospital is a Church of Uganda owned, Missionary founded, and Private NotFor Profit (PNFP) Hospital. It is a 300-bed hospital located at Namirembe Hill in Kampala, categorized as a General Hospital, but operationally a Referral Hospital.
• The Hospital exists for Christian witness in the field of healthcare, at the heart of which is a belief in God’s love and the meaning of Jesus’ healing ministry. Mengo
• Hospital seeks to recruit a suitably qualified person to fill the following vacant position.
Job Summary:
• Responsible for the overall management of Mengo Hospital including providing clear leadership and strategic direction; ensuring sound operations in clinical services, health training, education, and research; robust financial and business performance; and talent management to enhance high performance standards. The position also relates to ensuring the development and approval of guidelines/policies as well as overseeing Mengo Hospital’s continued growth and development as a competitive
• Health service, a nursing and other Health professionals training provider within risk, compliance, and statutory perspectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
a) Must possess a first degree in medicine and Surgery (MBChB) and a master’s or a fellowship in Medicine.
b) Must be a professing Anglican with evidence of espousal of Church of Uganda (Anglican)principles and values.
c) At least 10 years’ experience in healthcare of which at least 5 years at executive/senior management level in a reputable institution.
d) Extensive knowledge of the relevant medical laws governing hospitals and health training institutions within Uganda’s health management framework.
e) Commitment to continuous education, Research, and innovation.
f) A master’s degree in business administration/ or Management or Hospital Management or public health/management is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
a) Good computer literacy with excellent use of MS Office – Excel, Word,
PowerPoint, and experience in management information skills.
b) Knowledgeable and experienced in hospital/healthcare operations and strategy.
c) Solid Administrative knowledge and experience is critical.
d) Knowledge and experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and business development.
e) Knowledge of health training administration, education, and medical/ health related research practices.
f) Demonstrable ability to lead and influence team dynamics.
g) Clear and effective communication skills.
h) Good Planning and organizing skills.
i) Innovativeness, creativity, and flexibility.
j) Must be a person of unquestionable integrity.
k) Demonstrable ability to mobilize and fundraise resources.
