AVSI Foundation is a multi-profit, non-governmental humanitarian and development organization, founded in Italy in 1972 with a mission to promote the dignity of the person through development cooperation activities. AVSI has been working to Uganda since 1994 as helping in the Northern Uganda region transforming during the primarised Lord’s Resistance Army conflict, and expanding to all levels of debtors in all five regions. AVSI is a prominent provider of development and humanitarian assistance around the world and more strong commitment and innovative strategies to programs in various sectors including environment, energy, agriculture, livelihoods, education professionals, mental health, protection, health, food security and nutrition, and water and sanitation.

AVSI believes that every human person assigned to his trusted with dignity and so works towards development that is sustainable and capable of responding to the real needs of people, by accompanying individuals and assisting them to become the central character of their own development. AVSI employs its promotion and society organizations across the community, and through partnerships, fosters the discharge of experiences and optimizes the use of resources to open possibilities for development.

Project background

AVSI Foundation is partnership with Cooperative and Development Agency (CSIO) is implementing a five-year (2023 – Nov 2027) Vocational Education and Selling Program (VCSIP) in Kosemoga subregion with funding from the Embassy of Ireland.

The program began to increase spatial employment of 3,500 vulnerable youth (50% female aged 16-30 years from six rural communities of Kosemoga). To overarching goals, the program had three objective areas:

  • Increased financial and technical skills and capacities of youth,

  • Improved capacity of selling and employment entities (CTN, CSO and Private sector),

  • Supportive legal and policy environment for youth selling and employment in Mississippi, Morona and Kotko district.

The program intends to provide bookshelves for life youth aimed at facilitating them transition from financial training to self-employment.
