JOB DETAILS:
The Consortium for Enhancing University Responsiveness to Agribusiness Development Limited (CURAD) is a public-private partnership initiative promoted by Makerere University, the National Union of Coffee Agribusinesses and Farm Enterprises (NUCAFE), National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO). CURAD is an agribusiness innovation incubator set up with the aim of boosting job creation and incomes within the Agricultural sector in Uganda using the agribusiness incubation model. Agribusiness and Agripark Project: aBi Development Limited is partnering with CURAD to set up an Agripak Facility at Namanve Industrial Park which will be engaged in the production and marketing of fresh fruit, vegetables, dried fruits and packaging materials using the incubation model. CURAD is now looking to fill up the following positions at the Agripark Facility TERMS OF REFERENCES .
Job Responsibilities:
• Carry-out new value added product development activities for CURAD on dried fruits and powdered products.
• Support R & D activities for the incubatees at the units.
• Report incubatee production data for reconciliation purposes and ensure that all data for grower line reporting
• Ensure and manage a certifiable QMS, GAP, ISO 22000 and all relevant quality certfication and Compliances and maintain facilities to optimum standard at all times.
• Manage plant and equipment, building assets and maintenance schedules
• Manage and ensure all operational technical specifications are implemented, managed, recorded, monitored and audited as per CURAD Specifications.
• Optimize quality products outputs minimizing losses and assist in maintaining the recommended quality parameters for all products delivered and dispatched from the Agripark unit
• Ensure all plant equipment and process areas are sale, clean and tidy and meet OSH and company requirements and Ensure support staff are trained in and are conducting safe operating procedures for all equipment and machinery on site.
• Ensure that all CURAD production policies & procedures are adhered to by staff
• Managing stocks of raw materials, packaging and finished products and other items as required Effective control of all employee relations, disciplinary, grievance and absenteeism related matters
• Overseeing the marketing and distribution/logistics from the units to the markets

Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology
• A relevant experience in the production of dried horticulture or related products is an added advantage
• Product development and HACCP/QMS related training and exposure will be an added advantage
• Professional Skills: Minimum of 3 years' experience in a busy FMCG manufacturing environment OR experience in handling. of dried or perishable and processed products and working in similar industry at supervisory level will be an added advantage.
• Experience in enforcing QC, and new product development.
• Knowledge and understanding of HACCP, ISO 22000 and related UNBS standards and food laws related to food packaging design and labelling.
• Experience managing high performing production
