JOB DETAILS:
Communication for Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU) is a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) that was formed in 2002. CDFU designs and implements Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) programmes countrywide.
As part of the Spotlight Initiative EU-UN Joint program of the Gender for Development Uganda (G4DU), CDFU will implement the ‘Future Fit’ component in three refugee settlement districts of Kyegegwa (Kyaka II), Terego (Rhino Camp), and Yumbe (Bidibidi). Future Fit will target three schools and their surrounding communities and address social norms and other challenges that are responsible for gender disparities in education, low enrolment, retention and transition to higher education of especially the girl child. The second component ‘Make Happiness not Violence’ will be implemented in Amudat district to mobilize communities to take collective action to eliminate violence against women and girls by addressing negative social norms and practices that fuel gender-based violence.
1. Project Coordinator: (1 Position): Kampala with frequent travel to the regions.
Job purpose:
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management and implementation of the project in the four sites of Yumber, Terego, Kyegegwa and Amudat. Leads the design and implementation and evaluation of the project in the refugee camps. Takes lead in the process of developing communication materials, supervises and supports field and head office staff on the project, draws and manages work plans and budgets and provides regular reports as required.

Duties & Responsibilities:
a. Provide lead and general technical oversight of the refugee interventions and supporting interventions for the in school and out of school interventions (with a focus on the Youth) to promote social norm change, attitudes and behavior that foster positive education outcomes (enrolment, retention and transition) for learners, especially female learners from both the refugee settlement as well as the host community learners enrolled in the selected schools.
b. Conduct social mobilization for parents in communities and refugee settlements for conscientization of women and girls, boys and men on positive masculinities, positive parenting and life skills literacy to enhance the promotion of positive social and cultural knowledge, attitudes and practices and the protection of SRHR, and prevention of GBV
c. Finalize the support phase and implement the Action of SASA together in 1 Spotlight District of AMUDAT (3 sub counties) with Technical support from Raising Voices for social and behaviour change.
d. Mobilize schools, communities and refugee settlements to promote gender equitable norms through sports, drama and dance and multimedia approaches (Such as theatre Live your Dream campaign).
e. Develop radio drama series and multimedia (social media, community drama, TV talk shows, radio spots) on GBV, SRH, and child marriage for in and out of school audiences. This will also include recording of these to support discussions in listenership groups in and out of school
f. Work with the MoE to influence school drama themes on GBV, VAC, SRHR and girls Education to engage students in nationwide in Music Dance and Drama competitions and debates to build their knowledge and skills on GBV, SRH and child marriage for awareness raising to in and out of schools.
g. Strengthen knowledge, skills and attitude of the mainstream media; journalists, reporters and editors in the Print Media, Radio and Television in gender sensitive and human rights based reporting, positive masculinity, women’s human rights/child rights/refugee rights based reporting on GBV against women and girls and on girls’ enrolment and retention in schools
h. Overseeing the implementation of the project activities according to the project work plan, and budget.
i. Take lead in the design, implementation and monitoring of activities. This includes the development of communication and advocacy materials developed for social behaviour change.
j. Work with the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Specialist to develop and execute monitoring, learning and evaluation of the project.
k. Coordinate with partners, organizations, districts, communities, and support groups that work in the related areas to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the project and CDFU as a whole.
l. Liaise with district officials; Community Development Officers, Child and Family Protection Officers, Probation Officers, District Health Officers and others as necessary, in project activities
m. Compile and document success stories, as well as use learning from them for project
n. Take lead in the preparation of monthly, quarterly narrative and support financial reporting as required.
o. Manage knowledge and information to ensure that essential information is recorded, managed, and available for stakeholders of the campaign as well as of CDFU.
p. Support Resource Mobilization and Marketing of CDFU
q. Represent CDFU in meetings at various levels
r. Perform any other duties as requested by the Executive Director/Management

Minimum Qualifications & experience: A Master’s degree in either of the following; women and gender studies, human rights, development studies, communication, social sciences, community development or related field, must have at least 5 years’ experience in implementing gender and sexual reproductive health and rights work; demonstrate knowledgeable practice of working with districts, nongovernmental and community-based organizations. Experience in coordinating teams, and report writing. Good knowledge of Gender equality and gender related laws and policies will be an added advantage. Prior knowledge of SASA! Methodology will be an advantage
