A successful candidate will have the following:
Under the overall supervision of the Area Program Coordinator, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the strategic leadership, day-to-day management, and effective implementation of the “Improving Local Food Systems in Karamoja” project. The role requires coordination with multiple stakeholders including WFP, District Local Governments (DLGs), Ministries of Education and Sports and Ministry of Health, and schools. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring that all activities related to key result areas (climate smart agriculture, nutrition, and school feeding, social behavior change and gender) are implemented in a timely and efficient manner in compliance with WFP and FH guidelines, standards and budget for inclusion and sustainability. In addition to providing leadership and coordination for all aspects related to the project.
Experience
Minimum of 6 years of progressive responsibility in managing donor-funded projects, preferably in food security, nutrition, regenerative agriculture or school-based nutrition.
- Experience working in remote or fragile regions such as Karamoja.
- Prior experience working with UN agencies, especially WFP, is an asset.
- Experience in donor compliance and reporting, budgets and tracking of project resources.
Education/Certifications
- A bachelor's degree in agriculture, Nutrition, Agribusiness, or a related field is required.
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management, or Monitoring and Evaluation is highly desirable.
- A master's degree in project management, Agriculture, Nutrition, Agribusiness, or another relevant discipline will be considered a strong added advantage.
Job Level Specifications
- Proven leadership in multi-sectoral project coordination (regenerative agriculture, education, nutrition).
- Strong understanding of home-grown school feeding, climate-smart agriculture, and post-harvest systems.
- Excellent planning, team management, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Strong writing, communication, and representation abilities.
