Post: Project Officer- Resilient Learners, Teachers and Education Systems in Southern Sudan & Uganda (based in Lamwo)

Background: Uganda National Teachers’ Union ( UNATU ) is a statutory representative organization for the teachers formed; to promote and protect their rights and obligations tor improved working and living conditions. UNATU in Partnership with FAWEU, AVSI, LHGIE and OXFAM in Uganda is implementing a four year project funded by European Union: to improve the situation of learners in both non-formal and formal education systems and to strengthen the whole education system, including teachers and educators in Uganda refugee settlements and Southern Sudan communities

Post & Location: Project Officer -based in Lamwo District
Reporting lines: Reporting to the Deputy General Secretary Programs .

Job description: the Project Officer will work as a link between the field and the UNATU secretariat by: drawing up plans of operation for implementation including any institutional arrangements tor budgets; closely monitor the implementation oi projects underthe geographical area of responsibility and ensure adherence to provisions under the agreements signed with the implementing partners; remit monthly reports on the implementation of activities in accordance with the agreed guidelines; act as a first point of contact tor UNHCR Technical advisors, consultants and visitors; and maintain good working relations with the local government, implementing partners and other agencies in the area.

Terms of employment: One year contract renewable upon satisfactory-performance.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience: 
Bachelor’s Degree in, Development studies or Social Sciences; Post graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management with substantial project management skills and at least 2 years’ experience in project implementation and management; proven experience working with partner organisations and a good command of the Lou speaking dialect is an added advantage. You should have a personal commitment to protecting and promoting the rights of teachers and learners.
